Update January 19, 2017:  It has been decided to push forward this year with a carnival and music event. This will look very similar to the Crestone Music Festival you’ve grown to know and love. The main differences will be smaller headliners, smaller price and greater focus on family fun with all ages activities increased.  We will still bring quality music of an eclectic array, focusing on bands that participate in our YEP program in the schools.

Thank you so much again and again for your continued support
of Crestone Performances Inc.,
The Crestone Music Festival, and the Youth Enrichment Program.

Keep checking back for more updates,

December 20, 2016: Following much consideration and deliberation, the Board of Directors for Crestone Performances Inc. (CPI), has decided the time has come to grow in another direction. After a third red Crestone Music Festival, we are changing the main focus of our organization from the festival to our Youth Enrichment Program (YEP).   We are still exploring the possibility of producing musical events, but with more emphasis on families, youth, education and the San Luis Valley. EDIT to add 3/15/17:  It's Official! CRESTFEST 2017 is coming!

Our YEP program is the heart of our organization.  San Luis Valley Schools are small rural schools. Budgets are very tight and supplemental education through assembly presentations and in-residence programs are limited or non-existent. With thirty five schools in fourteen school districts, the need and opportunity is tremendous. Crestone Performances Inc., through its’ Youth Enrichment program (YEP), has addressed this under-served region since 2002. Over those years we have brought a myriad of culturally and educationally diverse presentations to thousands of students. A few examples are: a portable planetarium, a robotics troupe, a Falconer, Celtic music, Flamenco dance and music, Cuban music, Marimbas, Taiko drums, African Kora, positive/bi-lingual Hip Hop, Bhutanese dance and music, Circus workshops, Didgeridoo lessons, Steel drums, Australian Bush poets and many more. As of 12/1/16, we have provided 36 different presenters totaling 193 shows. We are usually able to subsidize the cost 50 to 100 percent to schools, while handling all aspects of production.

Though our program is impressive, we have only scratched the surface. We want to accommodate more schools and provide a wider scope of services. Besides providing culturally and educationally diverse presenters, we are working with schools to complement current curricula, provide free instruments and place artists and educators in residence.

YEP provides a service that is unique, affordable and extremely rewarding for students and schools. If you would like to help support performances in the schools, please send your donation to YEP, PO BOX 6, Crestone, CO 81131. You will receive a tax-deductible receipt and a pile of warm fuzzies knowing that you are enhancing the education of youth all over the San Luis Valley. With your help, we can do more!

CPI is here for you!
As our focus concentrates to the youth of the valley, we would like to explore other enriching activities for all ages.

We are looking for feedback and suggestions during this transitional time.

Know of an excellent act that would be great in the schools?  Do you have a skill to share? Would you like to donate to sponsor a performance at your local SLV school? Have any fundraiser ideas? What kind of events/performances would you like to see in our community?

THANK YOU again and again for your continued support of the arts and youth!
